Screenshots Online runs identically on every operating system and device. As long as you have a modern browser and your video file, it works the same whether you are on a Windows PC, a MacBook, an iPhone, or an Android tablet — and it works fully offline once the page is loaded.
Windows (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)
Chrome and Edge are recommended for the best Canvas API performance on Windows. Both have been tested on Windows 10 and Windows 11 across Intel, AMD, and ARM hardware. For large 4K video files over 2GB, Chrome and Edge handle memory management better than Firefox. Downloaded screenshots go to your default Downloads folder — you can change this in browser settings to route downloads to a project-specific folder automatically.
macOS (Safari, Chrome, Firefox)
All three major macOS browsers work well with Screenshots Online. Safari has excellent Canvas API support on macOS Ventura and later. Local file uploads work identically in all browsers. Downloaded files go to your Downloads folder by default. For large batches, set your browser download location to a project subfolder in advance.
iOS (Safari on iPhone and iPad)
Screenshots Online works on iOS Safari from iOS 15 onward. The responsive design adapts to all screen sizes. To upload a video file on iOS, tap the upload area — you can access videos from your Photos library, Files app, or iCloud Drive. Captured screenshots download to your Files app Downloads folder. Keep the Screenshots Online tab in the foreground while capturing, as iOS Safari does not support background tab processing.
Android (Chrome, Samsung Internet, Firefox)
Chrome on Android has the strongest Canvas API support and is recommended. Screenshots Online is fully functional on Android phones and tablets. Tap the upload area to browse device storage. Captured screenshots download to your Android Downloads folder, accessible through the Files app. Chrome on Android also supports opening files directly from Google Drive.
Chromebook
Chromebooks are ideal for Screenshots Online since Chrome is the native browser and the tool is entirely web-based. No installation required, no compatibility concerns. Files download to the local Downloads folder.
General Performance Tips
- Close other browser tabs when working with large video files — video decoding is memory-intensive
- For 4K files, give the browser a few seconds after loading before scrubbing
- Keep your device plugged in during batch-capture sessions — devices throttle performance when battery is low
